About Online Learning

Wilkes University approaches online learning (sometimes referred to as distance learning or e-learning) with the same commitment to rigorous academic standards and individual student performance that has distinguished our school for more than 80 years.

Our online nursing degrees and certificate programs are built around instructor-to-student and student-to-student interactions, delivered through a reliable online course system.

Online learning – especially for working professionals – can be a great way to earn your nursing degree or post-graduate certificate and balance the other responsibilities in your life. All courses are “asynchronous,” which means you’re not restricted to a specific day or time for class lessons – you can complete coursework when it’s most convenient and wherever you have an Internet connection.

The Wilkes online learning approach allows you to engage in course topic discussions and assignments and interact with your instructors and fellow students through a variety of web-enabled services:

  • Audio- and video-based lectures and presentations
  • Online chats
  • Discussion boards

Online Learning Basics

Our online course system is completely Internet-based; access your coursework anywhere you connect to the web.

If you’ve never taken an online class, there are some important points to keep in mind:

  • Online learning offers a great deal of independence and flexibility in terms of schedule, assignment completion, and other communications and tasks. Self-motivated students who proactively address assignments and tasks tend to do well in this environment.
  • Online courses are still courses. If you have questions or need help, don’t hesitate to contact your instructors – they’re here to help you succeed.
